Libraries are running Lifeline services to support the health and wellbeing of our communities including Books on Wheels, Choose and Collect, and access to Computers. Services may differ per Library. Learn more on our Covid-19 updates page.
Books on wheels
If you, or someone you know, is unable to get to the library to choose their own reading, our Books on Wheels service may be able to help.
Books on Wheels service will be offered where the volunteer is comfortable providing this service. Our volunteers will order items from the library, collect and then transport to the customer for contactless doorstep delivery.
Books on Wheels operates out of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham libraries and is supported entirely by volunteers from the library, Brixham does Care and Torquay and Preston Rotary clubs. Volunteers choose books based on customers’ preferences, which are then delivered on a monthly basis by volunteer drivers from Rotary club.
If you are interested in signing yourself or someone else up for this service, please contact a member of staff at your local library:
Good Neighbours membership
We also offer a Good Neighbours membership for friends, neighbours and family wishing to choose and deliver books to people not able to get to the library. Good Neighbours membership has various benefits ensuring library services are available to all - for more details contact your local library.
