Free books for every child
Bookstart is a national programme coordinated by the charity BookTrust. The programme is designed to support you to enjoy books with your child from an early age and to foster a love of reading. It's never too early to start a child on their reading journey and get them into the rewarding habit of reading every day.
Bookstart Baby Bag
In your baby's first year you'll receive your free Bookstart Baby pack from your health visitor, or other health professional.
If you haven’t received a bag, one can be delivered to the library of your choice for you to collect.

Packs for children with additional needs
There are also Bookstart Packs available for children aged 4 and under with additional needs. Children with conditions affecting their hearing, vision or fine motor skills can receive an additional free pack to support their individual needs.
Dual languages
If you speak English as a second language then you are entitled to a free dual language book.
