Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge is a national initiative lead by The Reading Agency and delivered by libraries. It is open to all primary school aged children and is designed for all reading abilities.
The Summer Reading Challenge takes place in all Torbay libraries throughout the school summer holidays. Children are challenged to read six books of their choice, earning stickers and rewards along the way and a medal and certificate on completion. In 2017 here in Torbay, over 1,366 children took part.
The Summer Reading Challenge has been designed to ensure children’s reading doesn’t dip during the school holidays. Children taking part in the Challenge are encouraged to visit the library regularly, helping them to maintain or improve their reading ability and confidence.
The Summer Reading Challenge website is available all year round and has lots more information about the challenge plus games, competitions and quizzes.
