This year’s theme gives families the chance to have fun, with children being encouraged to read anything that makes them happy – whether it be a comic, joke book, poetry, fiction or non-fiction.
The Summer Reading Challenge, presented by The Reading Agency, is delivered in partnership with public libraries and funded by Arts Council England.
The Challenge encourages children aged 4 to 11 to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure over the summer holidays, providing lots of fun and enjoyment as well as helping to prevent the summer reading ‘dip’.
The Summer Reading Challenge website is free to access and features games, quizzes and downloadable activities that encourage children to take part in reading related activities.
You can keep a record of the books you have read via the Summer Reading Challenge website.
Joining Torbay Libraries is completely free and gives you immediate access to an unlimited supply of books, magazines, music, information (including Ancestry Library Edition), events and more.
