Young children and babies are very welcome in our lively libraries. Most of our libraries offer free regular activities for families with under 5s such as Music, Rhythm and Rhyme and story times.
Music, Rhythm and Rhyme is a fun, friendly and free session that includes songs, rhymes and movement to help your child develop their language and motor skills, giving them a flying start towards loving stories and learning to read. They are also an opportunity for you and your baby to meet other families and learn new rhymes to share at home. See our full list of events here.
Bear’s Reading Adventure
Bear’s Reading Adventure is a free sticker book. There are 10 stickers to collect and these can be earned by borrowing books or coming along to a library event. Ask for your free book next time you visit the library.
Work in a pre-school, nursery or Children’s Centre?
We welcome visits from nursery groups, pre-schools and Children’s Centres and we are always happy to host a session for your children, where we can introduce them to the library and share stories and songs.
Our regular Music, Rhythm and Rhyme sessions are very popular so please contact your local library in advance if you are planning to bring a group of children along.
